Covid-19 update

PTS training postponed – until further notice

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, Western Power has initiated a management plan which will affect Power Training Services (PTS) ability to fulfil some training delivery.

In order to prioritise the safety and health of our employees, customers and contractors all non-essential trainer led, face to face training will be cancelled until further notice.

As a result, PTS has cancelled delivery of all non-essential training up until 31st May 2020.
If you are affected by these cancellations, PTS will contact you directly with an update.

Please note, training has not stopped completely. There are some courses continuing, however these are refreshers or courses that are deemed critical to the works program.

For any training that is taking place at PTS, precautionary and preventative measures have been put in place. CLICK HERE for more details.

So what’s next?

As you are no doubt aware, the COVID-19 situation and recommendations for management of risks are in a constant state of flux. PTS will communicate further if and when the situation changes. But for now, here is some information which may assist some questions you may have.

Q. Will my training be rescheduled?
For the time being, consider your training to be postponed and the intent is to reschedule this training when appropriate.
If you have any specific questions relating to your training please contact the PTS team or your Western Power Contract Manager.

Q. What about the training that is scheduled after the 31st May?
For now, PTS are focussing on cancelling all training scheduled up to the 31st May.
A decision regarding training scheduled from June onwards will be made at the appropriate time and students will be communicated to as soon as a decision is made.

Q. What if this cancelled training has an impact on my Network Authorisation?
If the cancellation of your training has an impact on your Network Authorisation, the authorisation expiry date may be appropriately amended to ensure Network Authority Cards remain valid until such time as the training can be completed.

CLICK HERE for information on Authorisation extensions that have been put in place for mandatory refresher training.

If you have any queries contact the Authorisations Team

Q. I’m an external contractor, what about my training?
If you are an external contractor who has been affected by the training cancellations, please contact your Western Power Contract manager for further information.

Q. Why am I not able to enrol for a course online? The PTS website only has “waitlist” as an option.

PTS is currently scheduling and running courses on an individual, at needs basis. To minimise risk, and to comply with business priorities, the decision to schedule a course will be made by Western Power management on a case by case basis.

So if you are interested in attending a training course, we ask that you place yourself on the WAITLIST so that once training recommences, you will be contacted to arrange your enrolment.

To add yourself to a Waitlist, just visit the PTS website, search for the course you’d like and click "JOIN the waiting list"
