Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove) - refresher

This three-day refresher course is provided for HV live workers who have failed to renew their HV live work authorisation through the verification of competency assessment before the anniversary date. This course can only be taken for authorisation that had lapsed not more than 24 months from the anniversary date.


To undertake this course, the client must provide the necessary plant and equipment, ie. glove and barrier elevated work platform.

If the course is delivered at a location other than Power Training Services WA, the client must contact our Technical Trainers to confirm further equipment that will need to be supplied.

Who should attend

This course is suitable for people who are qualified and authorised in high voltage live line glove method and who are required to perform this work on Western Power’s Network.

The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:

  • Network Authority Card (NAC)
  • UETTDRDP14A Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove) (or equivalent unit) or have completed the training course
  • UETTDRRF08B Perform EWP controlled descent escape or equivalent unit
  • TLILIC2005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) or equivalent unit
  • meet Western Power selection criteria as prescribed in section 3.1 of the High Voltage Live Work Manual

Note: All prerequisites need to be current.

Learning outcomes

As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:

  • demonstrate currency of Western Power’s high voltage live line glove work requirements and procedures

PPC and PPE requirements

Some of the practical training for this course will take place in an operational area. You are required to have/provide Western Power approved PPC and PPE requirements for the practical work. Refer to the Western Power PPE Procedure Sections 3.1 & 3.2, for these requirements.

Note: Power Training Services does not provide PPE, PPC and tools for training courses.

Standard PPC level 1 requirements apply. You will also need the following:

  • fall arrest harness
  • high voltage rated gloves and sleeves (Class 3)
  • helmet, safety glasses and work gloves
  • hand tools


Assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.
