Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove)

Knowledge of the principles, requirements and procedures to maintain energised high voltage distribution overhead electrical apparatus using high voltage glove techniques and the skills to maintain energised high voltage distribution overhead electrical apparatus.
This course also develops skills to work effectively within a cohesive team, to ensure the safety of all team members and the community when undertaking high voltage live line work.

Who should attend

Western Power employees or contractors who are required to maintain live high voltage electrical apparatus (glove).

Course includes

  • participating as a team member of a high voltage live line work crew
  • plan to maintain energised high voltage distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove) * carry out maintenance of energised high voltage distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove) * complete the maintenance of energised high voltage distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove)
  • plan to contribute to a coordinated high voltage live line work team
  • carry out and complete the contribution to a coordinated high voltage live line work team

Prerequisites

  • Network Authority Card (NAC)
  • BSBLDR403 Lead team effectiveness or equivalent unit
  • UETTDRRF08B Perform EWP controlled descent escape or equivalent unit
  • UETTDRRF02B Perform pole top rescue or equivalent unit
  • TLILIC2005 Licence to operate a boom-type elevating work platform (boom length 11 metres or more) or equivalent unit
  • Medical – commercial driver’s license / muscular skeletal
  • Meet Western Power selection criteria as prescribed in section 3.1 of the High Voltage Live Work Manual
  • Plus at least one of the following units:
    • UET30612 – Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead, or
    • UET30209 – Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead, or
    • UET30206 – Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead.
Note: All prerequisites must be current.

PPC and PPE requirements

  • PPE Level 1
  • combination pole/EWP harness
  • general work gloves
  • safety glasses (minimum medium impact)
  • safety helmet
  • hand tools

Equipment requirements

Dependent on the location of the course delivery, you may be required to provide relevant equipment such as an elevated work platform.

Assessments

Written and practical assessments are included in this course. Participants will not be considered to have completed this course until all assessments have been completed to a satisfactory level.

Certification

On successful completion of this training students will be issued a Statement of Attainment for both UETTDRDP14A Maintain energised HV distribution overhead electrical apparatus (glove) and UETTDRIS65A Contribute to coordinated HV live working
