Reclosers and load break switches are electronically controlled pole-top-mounted switchgear – these form part of Western Power’s HV overhead network protection.

People who are required to program, commission and maintain Schneider Reclosers and Load Break Switches.

Course includes

  • the purpose of Schneider switchgear used on Western Power’s network
  • operation of Schneider switchgear
  • safety and job requirements for programming and commissioning Schneider switchgear
  • the procedures for programming and commissioning Schneider switchgear
  • interrogating and programming relevant settings using WSOS
  • programming and commissioning of Schneider switchgear.


  • Network Authority Card (NAC)
  • Western Australian Electrician’s Licence Certificate of Registration
  • Computer literacy. Student must know how to use MS Windows Explorer, MS Internet explorer and MS Excel or have attended a recognised training course of a level that will allow the student to work with Western Power applications.

A laptop with serial port and WSOS4 software pre-installed by IT Store.


Written and practical assessment, then an on the job assessment.


A Certificate of Completion at the end of this course
