Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation - Refresher

A refresher and assessment of the skills and knowledge required to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

Course duration

2 hours

Who should attend

People who have had past CPR training experience (eg. hold a CPR certificate) and are required to refresh their CPR skills on a regular basis.

Course includes

A brief recap of CPR skills and knowledge (the DRSABCD steps) then completion of the CPR assessment. Students are required to complete the pre-learning prior to attending the course in order to prepare for the practical assessment.


  • completion of online pre-learning for HLTAID001 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
  • your Unique Student Identifier (USI). If you do not have a USI please apply for one via the USI website.

Special requirements

  • you will need to complete pre-learning before attending this course. You will receive an email from St Johns containing a link to the pre-learning questionnaire shortly after your enrolment is confirmed.
  • you will be required to show photo ID to the trainer at the start of the training day

What to wear

PTS training room standards apply:

  • smart casual attire (no shorts)
  • enclosed footwear

Assessments are included in this course.

  • As part of this unit of competency you will be required to perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin (placed on the floor) and 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an infant manikin (placed on a firm surface).
  • When deemed competent a statement of attainment will be awarded.
