Substation entry

Awareness of the environment when working in a restricted area (eg. a substation) and the procedures and practices that apply. A visit to an operational substation is included in this course.

Suitable for

People who are required to sign on a work permit before performing work on or near Western Power substation equipment.

Prerequisites

Network Authority Card (NAC)

Course includes

  • familiarisation with restricted areas
  • working safely in the danger zone
  • implementation of site security, control and management

What to wear

  • long-sleeved shirt and long pants
  • safety boots
  • high visibility vest
  • safety glasses
  • hard hat

PTS does not provide this PPE, you are responsible to arrange your own. Failure to have the correct PPE will result in refusal to attend the course.

Additional Information

Practical component of this training will take place at an operational substation – travel to the substation is required (approx. 10 minute drive). If you do not have your own transport, please advise your trainer on the day so that alternative transport can be arranged.
