High voltage overhead line insulator washing and coating

Skills and knowledge to carry out overhead line insulator washing and coating principles and procedures, plus the skills to wash and apply coating to insulators supporting energised high voltage conductors

Course Duration

3 days

Who Should Attend

Workers who are required to carry out the washing and coating of insulators supporting energised high voltage conductors

The prerequisites for attendance at this course are:

  • Network Authority Card (NAC)
  • Certificate III in ESI – Distribution overhead qualification
  • TLILIC2005 Licence to perform high risk work – EWP (elevating work platform)

Note: All prerequisites need to be current.

Learning Outcomes

As a result of attending this course participants should be able to:

  • Identify and apply worksite safety requirements
  • Identify and prepare equipment for insulator washing and coating
  • Inspect and maintain tools and equipment used for insulator washing and coating
  • Test the quality of water used for insulator washing
  • Test insulators for defects
  • Wash and apply coating to insulators supporting high voltage apparatus
