Basic Use of Toughpads

This course provides training on the basic use of toughpads and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to effectively navigate and use toughpads in their work.

It is recommended for those undertaking training in FMS (Field Mobility Services) or the AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) deployment tool, including Operator Console and Universal Field Client.

People with no experience with computers or Toughpads.

Course includes

At the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • Log on and off
  • Navigate the home screen
  • Understand toughpad components
  • Log on to applications
  • Understand how to use features e.g. add attachments, maps
  • Understand how to lock the screen
  • Understand how to shut down
  • Understand what to do if there is a mobile device failure
  • Understand what to do if there is a loss of communications
  • Use the vehicle dock
  • Access help when required

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course.

What to wear

PPE Level 0 including:

  • long-sleeved shirt and long trousers
  • enclosed, flat footwear (must provide full protection of foot, ie not sneaker or canvas shoes)
