AMI Deployment Tool – Operator Console

This course provides training on how to use the Operator Console to dispatch metering work.

Participants will be trained on dispatching service orders to field crews for data collection and service order completion.

Suitable for

  • Western Power personnel and external contractors (Netspark) who schedule and dispatch metering work.

Course includes

At the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ‘Execute Work’ business process
  • Demonstrate an understanding of roles and responsibilities for the business process
  • Configure Operator Console for local or required use
  • Log on and navigate Operator Console to:

Schedule/plan work and dispatch service orders to field workers
Takeback jobs
Deallocate crew, and reassign service orders
View service order information (e.g. forms)
View and reopen completed jobs
Understand and follow process for Type 1 Obligations and Safety Controls

  • Access help when required


Participants must have a basic understanding of how to use a Toughpad and basic computer literacy skills.
A Basic use of Toughpad (2hr) course is available and must be completed prior to attending this course, for participants with no experience with computers or Toughpads.

What to wear

PPE Level 0 including:

  • long-sleeved shirt and long trousers
  • enclosed, flat footwear (must provide full protection of foot, ie not sneaker or canvas shoes)

Additional Information

Toughpads upgraded with Windows 10 and Operator Console app downloaded on the device, are required for training.
