AMI Customer Communication training

This course provides training to enable meter installers and operational front-line staff to effectively and confidently communicate with, and respond to customer concerns, during installation of advanced meters across SWIN.

Suitable for

  • Western Power meter installers
  • External contractors
  • Operational front-line staff interacting with customers in relation to advanced meters.

Course includes

At the end of this training, participants should be able to:

  • explain what an advanced meter does
  • explain consumer benefits of an advanced meter
  • anticipate questions about AMI meters and provide accurate, concise and relevant information on choice, health, safety, privacy, security and cost
  • explain the installation process to customers, and provide information on available feedback mechanisms
  • understand escalation protocols in the event a customer expresses objection to installation or asks a question the installer/staff member cannot answer
  • understand what additional information and support is available

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course

What to wear

PPE Level 0 including:

  • long-sleeved shirt and long trousers
  • enclosed, flat footwear (must provide full protection of foot, ie not sneaker or canvas shoes)
