Install and maintain de-energised low voltage underground polymeric cables

This course covers the installation and maintenance of de-energised low voltage underground polymeric cables and covers the jointing, terminating, repair and replacement of cables. It includes the isolation of systems and circuits, the procedure of issuing/accepting electrical access permits, the undertaking of pre-commissioning and/or re-commissioning tests and the updating of system data/maintenance records.

Western Power employees who hold a Certificate III in ESI – Power Systems – Distribution Overhead (UET30612)

Course includes

As a result of attending this assessment participants should be able to:

  • prepare for the installation and maintenance of de-energised LV underground polymeric cables
  • carry out the installation and maintenance of de-energised LV underground polymeric cables
  • complete the installation and maintenance of de-energised LV underground polymeric cables.

Prerequisites

  • Network Authority Card (NAC)

You will not be granted competency in this unit until competency in the following units have been confirmed and any pre-requisite competencies required for each of the units listed.

  • UETTDREL16A Working safely near live electrical apparatus
  • UETTDRCJ21A Lay ESI electrical cables

Note: all prerequisites need to be current.
